The scholarship is an annual award presented by The Powder Group, and MAKE UP FOR EVER TV & Cinema Academy Paris is proud to be a partner of this very special program. The scholarship has been introduced to identify those who are dedicated and motivated to enhance their professional skills and become the next generation of professional makeup artists.
About the Kelly Gleason Scholarship for the Makeup Arts
This scholarship has been created in honor of makeup artist and Local 798 President Kelly Gleason. Kelly was a talented and popular makeup artist who spent more than twenty years working on some of the most memorable television and film productions in recent history. She was also a teacher and mentor to many in the professional makeup artist industry. In 2007, her family and many fans lost Kelly after a long and courageous fight with cancer. The scholarship has been created to celebrate Kelly's life and her passion for her craft of makeup artistry.
The Kelly Gleason Scholarship for the Makeup Arts in its partnership with MAKE UP FOR EVER TV & Cinema Academy Paris will consist of free entry to their full Certificate Course Program at the Paris campus and will be awarded to one person who is looking to further their education in the area of television and film makeup artistry. The winner will be announced in early June through the online and social networking resources of The Powder Group and the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy network.
About the MAKE UP FOR EVER TV & Cinema Academy
The 10th of the company's Academies worldwide, the MAKE UP FOR EVER TV & Cinema Academy Paris will be the first in the company's network that focuses solely on the art of makeup for television, film and video. The programs at the new Academy, opening in September 2014 at Cite du Cinema in Paris, will run the range of artistry from basic to prosthetics and special FX. Guest artists from across the world of film and television will be a part of the unique curriculum.

To Enter: Entrance is open to any experienced makeup artist over the age of 18 with a complete makeup artist education in a recognized makeup school or significant experience, for at least three years, as a professional makeup artists. Specific experience in television, film or special FX is not required for entry. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of industry experts, teachers of the Make Up For Ever Paris Academy and members of The Powder Group executive team.
Entries must be received no later than June 13, 2014, and should be sent by email to Kelly@thepowdergroup.com with the subject heading “Kelly Gleason Scholarship.”
*The entry must include a letter of introduction, all pertinent contact information including email, phone number, street address, social network details as well as examples of the applicants work and/or a link to the applicant’s website or online portfolio.
Entries must also include a statement, limited to 500 words, of why the applicant wishes to receive the scholarship. If applicable, the entry should also provide certificate in professional makeup education. Entrants will be judged on their written expression, their previous artistry experience and images of their work in an online portfolio/website.
Entries must follow the above guidelines or will not be considered for entry.
Legal: Entry into the competition will require meeting the enrollment pre-requisites for the Make Up For Ever TV and Cinema Academy nearby Paris. Enrollment requirements: each individual must be over the age of 18 by the time they begin classes International students must meet the requirement of qualification for an Student Visa of 6 months, under the regulations of the French Government. The winner must be able to provide confirmation of requirements within 30 days of the announcement as the winner, or the Scholarship will go to the runner-up. The Scholarship must be used at the Cité du Cinema campus. The student must confirm chosen program dates or registration for classes by July 31, 2014 for programs beginning in 2014 or 2015.
The award shall be used towards tuition for the full Certification Program at Make Up For Ever TV & Cinema Academy - up to €12,000. The student is responsible to provide their own kit to use for this curriculum – as to specifications provided by the Academy – as well as their travel, accommodation and food expenses for the duration of the program. There is no cash award or cash value for unused funds. The Powder Group nor Make Up For Ever are not responsible for entries not received. The decision of the panel is final.
