The Community Pride Flag was designed by artist community creator Michael DeVellis and is rooted in the original 8-stripe flag design created by artist Gilbert Baker in 1978.
Evolved pride flag designs have been introduced over the years to more fully give representation to various queer communities. The Community Pride Flag incorporates meaningful colors from many of those flag designs while creating a completely unique design, distributing the various shades of stripes in multiplicity and with a sense of equal representation for all of those they represent.
The intention is not to, in any way, replace any existing pride flag, but to supplement and complement the wide array of existing designs.
The Community Pride Flag is intended to be a symbol of inclusiveness, visibility, and unity for the queer community and beyond. It represents all communities who welcome, with warmth and open energy, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and all other global communities – from arts communities to religious organizations, political to cultural groups.
